Named after the mission hospital established on the domain property in the early 19th century, 40% of the barrels in the Missionvale Chardonnay 2022 completed fermentation un-inoculated. Spontaneous onset, assisted by late inoculation with locally sourced organically grown natural yeast, is responsible for the balance of alcohol conversion. Of the final blend, 8% was fermented and matured for 9 months in amphora, the balance in French oak. Bottled with light filtration in February 2023. Residual sugar: 1.6g/l. Bottled at 13%. Nose: Pronounced aromas of peach, pear, nectarines and honey. Lovely whiffs of grapefruit, orange blossom and almonds.

Palate: On entry, notes of nectarines and grapefruit. Complimented by beautiful hints of peach, pear and apricot. Mid-palate is elegant with a well weighted creamy texture.

Finish: Refreshing acidity and minerality with lingering notes of macadamia nuts and roasted pineapple.
