DESCRIPTION

Eagle Rare 10 Year Old is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon that was first launched in 1975 by Seagram as a 101 proof, 10-year-old release. Now produced at the famed Buffalo Trace Distillery since 1989, it continues to carry its 10 year old age statement and remains one of America’s most iconic premium bourbons. Matured for a minimum of 10 years in new charred American oak casks. Bottled at 45% ABV. (Bottle size 750ml)

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Sweet aromas of toffee, honeycomb, vanilla and toasted oak, with delicate citrus peel and herbal hints.

Palate: Bold and rich with layers of caramel, dark chocolate, oak tannin and candied almonds, balanced by subtle baking spice.

Finish: Dry and lingering; oak and leather notes with a gentle echo of vanilla and honey.

Mr

"Don't buy this! There's only one bottle left....I bought the 2nd last one....will be buying the last one next month! Absolutely lovely drink. The perfect bourbon."

Never disappointed with anything from Buffalo Trace

"My serious introduction to bourbon has largely been through Buffalo Trace, from its eponymous mash to the Four Roses expressions. I therefore had to try the Eagle Rare. The leather on the nose was a welcome surprise but I found it as well balanced as the Four Roses on the palate, combining some sweet notes with dark chocolate. I found the wood finish complemented a mild cigar perfectly. Having several friends and family who "don't drink whisky but will drink bourbon" (as if there's a difference!), I found another one to edge them to the dark side!"

Consistently good bourbon at a great price

"Favourite in the Buffalo Trace stable, this bourbon has age on the nose from the off set. Lovely wooded notes, hints of aged leather, muted spices and orange zest. The palate brings it all together, not much dry wooded spices on the palate, but a lovely dustiness of grain and old wood. The finish is where the dryness kicks in with a warm array of spices. Pity about the removal of the single barrel from the label due to the new bottling line they installed. Just makes me think what next to come, removal of age statement? But for now the juice is just great."
