DESCRIPTION

The Le Riche Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is a benchmark Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon from Le Riche Wines, crafted exclusively from carefully selected Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards across the Jonkershoek, Firgrove, Raithby and Simonsberg wards. The grapes were fermented for five days in open-top tanks with regular manual punch-downs and pump-overs before completing malolactic fermentation in lined concrete tanks. The wine was then matured for 24 months in 225-litre French oak barrels, 44% of which were new, resulting in a refined expression of Stellenbosch terroir. Bottled at 14.54% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Expressive aromas of ripe cherries, fresh plum and layers of red and black berries are complemented by notes of vanilla, cedar and classic pencil shavings.

Palate: Elegant and beautifully balanced, with concentrated dark fruit supported by fine-grained tannins and a firm yet polished structure. The French oak is seamlessly integrated, adding subtle spice and complexity while allowing the purity of the fruit to shine.

Finish: Long, juicy and persistent, with lingering black fruit, cedar and graphite notes carried by refined tannins.
