DESCRIPTION

Van Loggerenberg Geronimo Cinsaut 2024 is sourced from old, dryland bush vines at Rustenhof farm in the Firgrove area of Stellenbosch. Planted on decomposed granite and sandstone soils, the vineyard yields fruit of elegance and finesse. In the cellar, half the grapes were fermented as whole bunches with natural yeasts, and each batch was gently managed with one punch-down per day. After malolactic fermentation in seasoned 500 L French oak barrels, the wine spent nine months maturing before blending and bottling. Unlike the other reds in the range, Geronimo is bottled earlier to preserve its bright, crunchy fruit vibrancy. Bottled at 13%. (Bottle size 750ml)

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Expressive and inviting, showing dark cherry, delicate floral perfume, and a distinctive fynbos note, layered with subtle spice.

Palate: Strikingly pure, with vivid red and black fruit framed by lemon-like acidity. The texture is fine and energetic, with a supple mid-palate that highlights the variety’s lighter, more graceful side.

Finish: Dry rather than astringent, with powdery tannins and refreshing acidity. The wine closes with tension and finesse, its vibrancy making it both immediately approachable and effortlessly food-friendly.
