DESCRIPTION

Released as part of Nikka’s permanent core range (although seldomly available in SA), Coffey Grain is produced at the Miyagikyo distillery in Japan. Produced on traditional continuous Coffey stills imported from Scotland in the 1960s, using corn with a portion of malted barley. Matured mainly in ex-bourbon casks. Bottled at 45%.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Sweet and fruity with notes of vanilla, honeyed corn, candied orange peel, tropical fruit, spice and a touch of caramel, balanced by soft oak.

Palate: Medium-bodied and smooth with flavours of toffee popcorn, citrus and tropical fruit, balanced by vanilla and light spice; reminiscent of grain whiskey sweetness.

Finish: Medium finish with rich oak, marmalade hints and gentle sweetness lingering.
