DESCRIPTION

Originally produced in 1968 as a Christmas gift to family and friends from George S. Grant, the bottling was re-named to 105, referring to its alcohol content in British proof (not the American proof which is double the ABV). Exclusively matured in sherry casks. (Although the label says 'cask strength' we are dubious as every bottle is, and has always been, bottled at 60%. That number is too consistent not to raise suspicion.) Bottled at 60%.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Great depth, sherry. Creamy and nutty. Honey on toast, touch of smoky coffee.

Palate: Silken, spicy and peppery oak. Almond, praline, hazelnut, dried peels, fruity. Touch of Armagnac, hint of rancio perhaps?

Finish: Long, peppery and nutty.

Superb

"A delicious dram with a real kick to it. Full of peppery spiciness, honey and oodles of nuts. Adding some water cools the spice and brings forth some fruitiness. Not quite as refined as the 17yo but certainly a dram to remember."

Rich with shades of amber

"Excellent dram betraying its Oloroso sherry cask influence . Love the peppery spice character thats followed by the floral and perfume notes. Quite grassy and well rounded on the pallate . Amazing though what a drop of water can do to its complexity and flavour"

The Sweet (Punchy) Spot

"I know many Glenfarclas fans swoon over the core range, particularly the 17yo it seems, but that doesn't quite do it for me. This on the other hand: KAPOW! It's rich and spicy with cinnamon and nutmeg, and damn, does the finish just go on and on. Don't be scared of the 60%, add a dash of cool water, and then dive into the complexity of this legendary and classic dram."
