A permanent core range release from the Glenmorangie Distillery in the Highlands. Introduced in 2025, The Altus represents the modern evolution of the distillery’s previous 25-year-old expression. The name “Altus” comes from Latin, meaning both “high/elevated” and “deep”. Matured for 25 years in American white oak bourbon casks, with a portion finished in Madeira wine casks — a nod to Glenmorangie’s pioneering work with Madeira finishes in the 1990s. Bottled at 43%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Rich yet softly aromatic with carnation, rose, orange blossom, honey and peach, supported by vanilla, almond and nutty toffee, alongside Glenmorangie’s signature peach and pear.
Palate: Oily and luscious with sweet, fruity flavours of mandarin, apples, pears and peaches, followed by gooseberry and yellow plum. Butter-candy notes develop with soft oak influence, almond marzipan, icing sugar and ripe banana.
Finish: Long, elegant and delicately sweet with lingering fruit and soft oak spice.
