Nose: Peat smoke, seaweed scent and the famed 'medicinal' essence hit the nose with a hint of sweetness.
Palate: Surprising sweetness with hints of salt and layers of peatiness.
Finish: Long and lingering. Wait for the sweet seaweed afterglow.

"I've been drinking a few of the basics from the Islay region: Laphroaig Quarter Cask, Lagavulin 12yr, Caol Ila, Ardbeg 10yr and, for what it's worth, the Smokehead (normal). With this 10-year edition you can enjoy that very typical medicinal, iodine, seaweed and TCP Oil taste that Islay lovers. . . love. But the after taste is still a bit frank. Not as refined as the others aforementioned. The LP Quarter Cask is worth the little price increase."

"Laphroaig 10 is weird, man. Marmite of the whiskey world. On the nose it's like a freshly opened tin of tennis balls, on the palate I get medicine and iodine and seaweed and then the finish is all burnt rubber and squash court shoes. Fantastic stuff."
