DESCRIPTION

The Raats Méthode Ancestral 2025 is a naturally sparkling Pétillant Naturel (Pét-Nat) produced by Bruwer Vintners, the collaborative venture between Bruwer Raats and Gavin Bruwer Slabbert, in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Crafted from 100% Pinotage sourced from young vineyards in the Polkadraai Hills, the wine is made using the historic Méthode Ancestrale, where fermentation begins in tank before finishing naturally in bottle under crown cap. The wine is spontaneously fermented, unfiltered, undisgorged, with no added sulphur and no oak maturation, preserving its vibrant fruit character and authentic expression. Bottled at 12% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Fresh and expressive with aromas of pomegranate, wild strawberries, fynbos and delicate brioche lifted by subtle floral notes.

Palate: Lively and energetic, with vibrant red berry fruit, crunchy pomegranate and cranberry flavours supported by a fine natural mousse. The minimal-intervention approach gives the wine excellent texture, freshness and purity.

Finish: Clean, dry and refreshing, with lingering berry fruit, gentle yeasty complexity and bright natural acidity. Delicious in its youth, while offering surprising short-term ageing potential.
