DESCRIPTION

A new brand created by South African drinks company Select Beverage Co., whose drinks portfolio includes Cape brandy, several gins, rums, and a Karoo agave spirit. WhaleTale whisky is a single grain distilled in Scotland in May 2018 and initially matured in ex-bourbon casks for three years. It was then moved to South African to continue aging for a further four years in the Western Cape, before being finished in a combination of French and American oak. This small-batch release is bottled in a distinctive whale-tail shaped bottle, inspired by South African coastal folklore. Bottled at 43%. (Bottle size 750ml)

NOTES FROM THE WB TEAM

Due to the cross-continental production of this whisky, it cannot be classified as a Scotch whisky, despite being distilled and initially aged in Scotland. Nor does it meet the criteria to be recognised as a South African whisky. As such, it falls into the broader category of "world whisky" — a growing and diverse segment that reflects global innovation in whisky-making.
