ABSOLUTELY The Best Brandy Ever Tasted!
"Firstly, Kudzai's comment above is spot on! I have tasted MANY brandies and cognacs over a good decade or so. No cognac, or brandy, I have ever tasted beats this one. The term "Pride of South Africa" can certainly be added to the label. On the nose it is already clear that this is something special. Spice, honey, even florals (which I usually only get with cognacs). Beautiful! I have to usually stop smelling so as not to look like a weirdo. . The palate - WOW! There is too much going on here to put down in a small review. Honey. . Spices. . LOTS of spices. . Cinnamon. . Cardemon. . . Anysseed. . Fruits. . . MORE honey and spice. . and yes,, then you get the subtle oakiness. . . Velvety. . Creamy. . . FULL mouth feel. The Finish is long, smooth and perfect. Fades slowly. . like being on a train during night time on your way to your favourite destination. This is truly something dreams are made of. Very easy to see why this has won "best brandy" in France something like 3 times in the last 5 years. And the price point (well. . in South Africa that is -currently selling for R799. 00 at Ultra Liquors) is AMAZING beyond measure. If I ever had to make a choice to only have access to one brandy for the rest of my life, Van Rhyns 15 will be my choice. Van Rhyns Distillery have created a timeless masterpiece here which everyone can be extremely proud of. This IS the best brandy (cognacs etc included under the moniker) ever made. PERIOD. If you see it in the shops or online - BUY IT. You will thank me."
