Established in 1983, The SCOTCH MALT WHISKY SOCIETY (SMWS) is an independent bottler renowned for its distinctive single-cask, natural-strength whiskies, selected for their quality and individuality rather than distillery reputation alone. Each cask is assessed by the Society’s independent Tasting Panel, which develops the detailed tasting notes, flavour profiles and evocative names that have become central to the SMWS experience. This masterclass will explore a specially selected line-up of Society bottlings, offering insight into the casks, flavours and stories behind each release.

Presented by OLAF MEIER, Chairman of the SMWS Tasting Panel and Keeper of the Quaich, the masterclass offers a rare opportunity to taste alongside one of the Society’s most experienced whisky authorities. Olaf plays a central role in assessing and approving casks for release and is also the longest-standing SMWS member outside the UK. This will be his first visit to South Africa.
