Unforgettable
"Probably my 5th whisky I bought , just after reading that Jim Murray awarded it best Single Malt Whisky of the year in his book (way back in 2012). Saw it at a ridiculous price (bottle store didn't know what they had) and had to try it. I was not disappointed. Slightly sweet on the nose with a sort of melon note, but mostly salt and maritime flavours coming through. The palate is very complex and I feel like I get something new every time. Briny, unripe fruit, some vanilla, some toffee sweetness and herbaceous to the end. Finish is medium length and the mouthfeel is not too coating, which makes it a more accessible dram for most newcomers as well. All the things you love about Old Pulteney 12, but with more layers added to it. Years in the barrel did this one very well, unlike some where the wood notes are overpowering or all the sharp edges are too rounded."
