DESCRIPTION

The Morgenster Cabernet Franc 2023 is a premium single-varietal Cabernet Franc from Morgenster Estate in Somerset West, Stellenbosch. Produced from carefully selected estate-grown vineyards, the wine highlights the elegance and aromatic purity of Cabernet Franc while reflecting the distinctive terroir of the Helderberg. Matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, a portion of which were new, the 2023 vintage balances vibrant fruit with refined structure, silky tannins and subtle oak complexity. Bottled at 14.5% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Expressive aromas of blackcurrant, ripe raspberry and red plum are complemented by notes of violets, graphite, cedar, tobacco leaf and subtle baking spice.

Palate: Bright red and dark berry fruit is layered with black cherry, cassis and hints of dark chocolate, fresh herbs and savoury spice. Fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity provide elegance, freshness and excellent balance.

Finish: Long, smooth and refined, with lingering dark fruit, delicate oak spice and a persistent mineral freshness.
