Part of Diageo's Special Releases for 2018, a single malt from the Inchgower distillery in Speyside. Distilled in 1990, matured for 27 years in refill American oak hogsheads and bottled in 2018. A total of 8,544 bottles were produced. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.3%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Dry and savoury, with ripe fruits on a herbal and slightly spicy base; fruit boxes packed with red apples, a dusty malt barn, hessian sacks and walnuts, nut brittle toffee. Subtly aromatic, with mature oaky vanilla, dark chocolate, dry sawdust, and polish. Later, sweet hints of melon.

Palate: First, cool and tangy, smooth and with a sweeter taste than expected; a sugary fruit compote. Soon drying, powerful and mint-clean, with a charred bitterness; flinty and toasty, growing increasingly appetising, with dark chocolate and grape skins, then savoury.

Finish: Long, with considerable spice; herbal, with drying cedar and clove, and black tea notes. An appealing charred and savoury note.

Diamond in a bourbon cask

"If only I could have this everyday. Little gem and a hidden treasure. Price tag my seem steep but once you try that first dram you see why. This sits there as one of my top drams of the year. Pour me another."

Incredible

"Firstly, for the price this comes with some very impressive age - if it was from a Glen it would be 2x as much, and if it was a Mac it would be 20x 😂 Jokes aside, incredible whisky. Great depth with cinnamon, oak shavings, nuts and peaches. Looong finish and the cask strength delivers flavour not heat."
