DESCRIPTION

Idiom Zinfandel 2022 is a single-varietal red wine produced by Idiom Wines from its Stellenbosch vineyards overlooking False Bay. Made from 100% Zinfandel, the variety also known as Primitivo, it is crafted in a medium-bodied, fruit-driven style. The grapes undergo a four-day cold soak before fermentation at controlled temperatures, followed by malolactic fermentation. Idiom traditionally matures its Zinfandel in a combination of French and American 225-litre oak barrels, giving the wine additional spice and structure while retaining its vibrant red-fruit character. TASTING NOTES

Nose: Aromatic raspberry, dried cranberry and pomegranate, complemented by tea leaf, bay leaf and dried herbs.

Palate: Juicy redcurrant and raspberry fruit with layers of balsamic, sage and bay leaf, supported by gentle oak spice and a fresh, medium-bodied structure.

Finish: Long and refreshing, with lingering red fruit, savoury herbs and subtle spice.
