Hyde No.3 is a 6yo triple-distilled, single grain Irish whiskey matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. As is common nowadays for several Irish whiskey brands, Hyde do not have their own distillery, but source their whiskey from other Irish producers (in this case, Cooley). Only 5,000 bottles produced, bottled in February 2016. Non-chillfiltered and bottled at 46%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Cinnamon and clove with sweet caramel. Complex and spicy with sweet American bourbon notes.

Palate: Robust grain spices with a touch of cracked black pepper giving way to a buttery vanilla and charred oak taste.

Finish: A silky combination of oak and barley.

"I think this hits the mark intended. Soft easy drinking whisky. I predominantly found baking spices, cinnamon and Nutmeg, with notes of honey and weetbix. It's a good easy drinker. Won't be the best whisky in the world but I'll happily get another bottle for the house"

Expected More

"I love grain as an emerging category of whisky, and I look forward to a wider selection, but this doesn't do it for me. The youth is noticeable and coarse and a drop of water doesn't really help. Rather drink Bain's, easily twice as good at half the price."
