DESCRIPTION

Made from a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah sourced from selected vineyard blocks on the Holden Manz estate in Franschhoek, where the 2017 vintage delivered small, concentrated berries due to drought conditions and a warm, dry August leading to early budbreak. Long, cool nights and mild summer days contributed to exceptional ripeness and tannin development. Grapes were hand-picked and sorted, with Syrah harvested on 27 March and Cabernet Sauvignon on 4 April 2017. Fermentation occurred with wild yeasts, with 15% barrel fermentation in new wood. The wine was matured before bottling on 8 January 2021. Residual Sugar 3.2 g/L. Bottled at 14.5% (Bottle size 750 ml).

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Concentrated aromas of ripe red fruit transition into savoury layers of cassis, spice and a touch of pencil shavings, giving depth and an elegant, slightly earthy complexity.

Palate: Rich and fruit-forward with vibrant red berry intensity, supported by nuances of white pepper and nutmeg. The texture is soft and silky, offering generosity without heaviness.

Finish: Long, refined and structured, with supple tannins that provide enough grip for ageing while maintaining an elegant, polished exit.
