Nice Dram
"Sweet with a hint of spice. Lots of peach, apricot and white chocolate. In my opinion a good upgrade from the previous nectar d'or. Still "sweet" but delivering more complexity."
Released late 2023, Glenmorangie 16yo The Nectar replaces the now discontinued Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or, with a revised recipe and age statement. Matured for 14 years in ex-bourbon barrels and finished for an additional 2 years in a range of sweet white wine casks, including Sauternes and Monbazillac from France, Moscatel from Spain, and Tokaji from Hungary. Bottled at 46%.
Nose: Decadent with notes of baking brioche, baked apricot, vanilla pudding, toasted almond and hints of chocolate truffles.
Palate: Rich and sticky with swirls of honeycomb, orange syrup and brioche, balanced by a soft drumbeat of spice and lemon zestiness.
Finish: The finish is long and lingering, with some lemon rind, baking break and a touch of honeycomb.
