DESCRIPTION

A permanent expression from the Glenfarclas distillery in Speyside, first introduced in 1968 as one of the first cask strength single malts in a distillery core range. Matured in Oloroso sherry casks, it takes its name from its strength of 105° proof on the old British scale. Naturally coloured and bottled at a cask strength of 60%. (Bottle size 1L)

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Complex and oaky, with apples, pears and dark toffee.

Palate: Dry and assertive at first, then rich and spicy, with oak and sherried fruit.

Finish: Long, peppery and nutty.

Superb

"A delicious dram with a real kick to it. Full of peppery spiciness, honey and oodles of nuts. Adding some water cools the spice and brings forth some fruitiness. Not quite as refined as the 17yo but certainly a dram to remember."

— Kyle B. (5/5)

Rich with shades of amber

"Excellent dram betraying its Oloroso sherry cask influence . Love the peppery spice character thats followed by the floral and perfume notes. Quite grassy and well rounded on the pallate . Amazing though what a drop of water can do to its complexity and flavour"

— Thabs M. (5/5)

The Sweet (Punchy) Spot

"I know many Glenfarclas fans swoon over the core range, particularly the 17yo it seems, but that doesn't quite do it for me. This on the other hand: KAPOW! It's rich and spicy with cinnamon and nutmeg, and damn, does the finish just go on and on. Don't be scared of the 60%, add a dash of cool water, and then dive into the complexity of this legendary and classic dram."

— Susan (5/5)
