DESCRIPTION

A small batch release from the Edradour distillery in the Highlands. A vatting of only two casks, both matured for the full 10 years in first-fill ex-Oloroso sherry butts. Although not detailed on the label, this batch was specifically bottled for South Africa and yielded a total of 1,574 bottles. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 46%. (Bottle size 750ml)

OFFICIAL TASTING NOTES

Nose: Hints of dried fruits, Oloroso and almonds.

Palate: Spicy Christmas cake, sweet golden syrup with a touch of honeyed almonds. A distinctive, old fashioned, rich mouth feel coming from the small copper farm stills.

Finish: Oaky, soft spices, mellow and warming.

NOTES FROM THE WB TEAM

Well look at what we have here 🤩 The dark colour of this whisky will have you feeling like loadshedding is back!

There are far less fully matured, European oak, heavily-sherried whiskies available these days compared to several years ago - not just in SA, mind you, but definitely more noticeable here with less variety in the country - so we arranged this gem with our friends at Edradour to offer an "old school" sherried whisky at a fair price, and to at least have something more standard (not single cask, not cask strength) available from this great distillery.

Perfect Dram

"Absolutely fantastic whisky. Highly recommend letting breathe/oxidize a little before tucking into it. Savoury on the nose with lovely dark fruit richness on the palate. Simply a perfect dram."

Nectar of the Gods

"Mouthfeel of the gods themselves. Leading with caramel, fruity yet measured and I swear there are notes of cacao (not bitter!) and coffee lurking behind the sweet sensation. It gave me that feeling of needing to share it, and boy did we love it. Gone too soon, getting another."

ABV is spot on!

"First off - do not think this needs more abv - it is perfectly judged and makes this a beautiful dram at a fantastic price point. Classic full sherry maturation, lovely dried fruit and spice, silky mouthfeel and much more complex than the nose might suggest. Brilliant whisky."

Hardy (5/5)

Such a welcome addition!

"As the WB notes suggest, this is top tier sherried whisky that we just don’t see enough of these days, from this particular distillery as well! Earthy and savory on the nose, sweet and luscious on the palate. This drinks like juice yet is oh so complex, and has everything the Sherry lover is looking for! The silky mouthfeel is the highlight for me. At the price a great sherried daily drinker and definitely worth a couple bottles."
