DESCRIPTION

The De Keur Grenache 2023 is the second vintage of this limited-release Grenache from Ex Animo, crafted by acclaimed winemaker Lukas van Loggerenberg from a high-altitude, dry-grown bush vine vineyard on the Ceres Plateau. Planted in 2017 on Jeannette Clarke's family farm, the vineyard produces fruit of exceptional freshness and purity. Fermentation included 20% whole bunches, followed by nine months' maturation in older 300-litre French oak barrels to preserve the wine's vibrant fruit and elegant structure. Bottled at 13.3% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Aromas of red and black berries lead the way, complemented by delicate floral perfume, dried herbs, earthy nuances and a subtle touch of reduction that adds complexity.

Palate: Bright and beautifully textured, with succulent raspberry, wild strawberry and red cherry flavours supported by vibrant lemon-like acidity, fine powdery tannins and remarkable balance.

Finish: Long, dry and refined, with lingering red berry fruit, savoury spice and a fresh mineral edge that leaves an elegant, persistent finish.
