First released in 2008, Dalmore King Alexander III forms part of the Highland distillery's core range. Originally named 1263 King Alexander III – the year in which the chief of clan Mackenzie (the family who would inherit the distillery in 1867) saved the king from an attack by a stag during a hunting expedition; the origin of today’s stag adorning each bottle of The Dalmore. Crafted by Master Blender Richard Paterson, no less than six different casks are used in the maturation: ex-bourbon casks, Matusalem Oloroso sherry wood, Madeira barrels, Marsala casks, port pipes and Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques.
Nose: Red berry fruits, fresh flowers and hints of passion fruit.
Palate: Citrus zest, vanilla pod, creme caramel and crushed almonds.
Finish: Sweet cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger.
