DESCRIPTION

Van Loggerenberg Breton Cabernet Franc 2024 is sourced from two Stellenbosch parcels planted in 2004 and 2008 on decomposed granite layered with koffieklip. The 2004 block (Polkadraai Hills), a Loire clone, contributes 20% of the blend and was fermented entirely as whole bunches, bringing lifted aromatics and freshness. The 2008 parcel (Lynedoch), fully destemmed, spent four weeks on the skins with daily punch-downs, giving depth and structure. After fermentation, the components underwent malolactic conversion separately in third-fill French oak barrels, then matured for 11 months before blending and immediate bottling. Bottled at 13.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Compelling and aromatic, with pencil shavings, violets, red and black cherries, and an earthy herbaceous note of crushed leaves that nods to the Loire influence.

Palate: Medium-bodied, finely balanced, and vibrant, showing a core of juicy red and black fruit supported by savoury herbs and delicate floral lift.

Finish: Long and harmonious, with velvety tannins framing the fruit and freshness in perfect measure. The texture is supple, carried by vivid acidity that drives the wine without sharpness.
