DESCRIPTION

Harvested from south-facing vineyards at 264 m on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, where quartz seams cut through cool clay soils, this 100% Chardonnay captures the precision of its elevated coastal terroir. The fruit, sourced from 9–19-year-old vines (clones 95, 96, 548 and 760), was hand-picked at the end of February 2024 following a long, even ripening under a 12 °C diurnal swing. Fermentation occurred in 30% new and 70% seasoned French oak, followed by 10 months on the lees with full malolactic conversion. Residual Sugar 1.3g/l. Bottled at 13% (Bottle size 750ml). 

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Elegant and finely etched, offering scents of lemon pith, white peach, and green apple layered with crushed quartz, hazelnut, and a flicker of sea spray. Hints of flint and chamomile add nuance and lift.

Palate: A focused, medium-bodied expression showing tension between ripe citrus and restrained stone fruit. Subtle oak-derived creaminess integrates with a chalk-textured core, evoking the cool coastal breeze of its ridge origins.

Finish: Persistent and crystalline, marked by mineral drive and taut acidity that lends finesse and poise. A faint saline echo and a whisper of oak spice frame a clean, enduring close.
