Laphroaig Select
"Smokey, hints of lemon, peaty but still polite enough for the uninitiated. Wants to be a Quarter Cask when it grows up"
Laphroaig underwent a packaging makeover in 2023 with increased recyclability and reduced plastic components, including the replacement of the original plastic stopper with a beech wood stopper. The entry expression in the Laphroaig core range, the Oak Select is predominantly matured in virgin American oak casks, with the addition of whisky matured in Oloroso sherry butts, hogsheads seasoned with Pedro Ximenez, quarter casks and first-fill bourbon casks. Naturally coloured and bottled at 43%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Forward peat smoke followed quickly by ripe red fruits.
Palate: Sweet at first, followed by peat smoke and dashes of ash and seaweed.
Finish: Long finish with lingering floral notes. Touches of marzipan and lime.

"Very good entry level for those who wants to know what’s smoky peaty whiskey taste like.. it is fruity sweet and slightly peated, the only thing i didn’t appreciate is the short finish but this is what you get from vatted whiskey “same distillery” young and matured whiskeys Easy and drinkable"

"This is a typical Islay dram with a robust palate. It is very smokey on the nose with notes of dark caramel and malt coming through. The palate has a good amount of peat that lingers through the finish along with a stewed fruit note. it is a good whisky to buy as a gift or as an easier drinking peaty dram."
