DESCRIPTION

The Capensis Silene Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is the inaugural red wine from Capensis, produced from carefully selected vineyards across Stellenbosch's renowned Helderberg region. This Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with 9% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, adding depth and complexity while maintaining a distinctly Stellenbosch character. Matured for 14 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which were new, the wine delivers a refined balance of vibrant fruit, savoury detail and polished tannins. Bottled at 14% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Expressive aromas of blueberries and cassis are layered with violets, rose petals, cedar, graphite, cocoa powder and subtle cigar box notes.

Palate: Concentrated dark berry fruit is complemented by black olive tapenade, dark chocolate and savoury spice. Fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity create a beautifully textured, balanced palate with impressive depth and elegance.

Finish: Long, smooth and mouth-coating, with lingering dark fruit, mineral freshness, subtle oak spice and a classically dry finish.
