DESCRIPTION

The Benguela Cove Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is a cool-climate Cabernet Sauvignon from Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate in Walker Bay, South Africa. Sourced from north-westerly facing vineyards rooted in clay, iron laterite and shale soils, the grapes were hand-harvested at optimal ripeness before undergoing cold maceration, gentle fermentation and an extended post-fermentation maceration. The wine was matured for 22 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, 40% of which were new, producing a Cabernet Sauvignon of exceptional structure, elegance and ageing potential. Bottled at 14% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Concentrated aromas of blackcurrant, sour plum and ripe dark berries are complemented by fragrant violets, sweet leather, fresh fynbos and delicate oak spice.

Palate: Rich layers of black fruit are supported by refined tannins, seamless acidity and subtle notes of vanilla, cedar and spice from French oak maturation. The palate is bold yet beautifully balanced, reflecting the cool-climate precision of Walker Bay.

Finish: Long, elegant and persistent, with lingering dark fruit, savoury spice and finely integrated oak that promises excellent cellaring potential.
