DESCRIPTION
A limited-edition blended whisky from boutique blenders, Compass Box. Launched in 2024 as the fourth and final release in the Extinct Blends Quartet, a collection of four whiskies that pay homage to styles of Scotch from the past. Celestial was inspired by an undisclosed blended Scotch produced in the 1950s and 1960s created by one of the original Whisky Barons (early Scotch pioneers like Tommy Dewar and James Buchanan). Produced from a complex blend of: Ardbeg, Old Pulteney, Glen Elgin and Caol Ila malts; Port Dundas and Cameronbridge grains; various parcels of blended whiskies and blended malts; using an assortment of casks including recharred American oak barrels, first-fill barrels, refill sherry and French oak. 5,532 bottles were produced. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 50%.
OFFICIAL TASTING NOTES
Nose: Heavyweight peat smoke, starting with beach bonfire and building to coastal smokiness.
Palate: Gingery richness, vanilla and grilled apples behind, with a dry and oak-forward palate.
Finish: Meaty smokiness.
