More from Cask Strength Scotch Whisky
Part of Diageo's Special Releases for 2024, Spirited Xchange Second Edition, a collection said to be an exploration of the uncharted territories of taste, produced under the guidance of master blender Dr Stuart Morrison. Autumn Walk is a single malt from the Glen Ord distillery in the Highlands, matured for 14 years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, then part-finished in casks with Pyrenean and Spanish oak ends. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.7%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Orange cream cake filling with vanilla. Beneath this lie a faintly waxy suggestion of flaked almonds and a light ‘green’ note, suggesting sugar snap peas or mange tout.
Palate: A creamy texture, which is quite tooth-coating. A strong hint of Seville orange peel, then peppery spiciness.
Finish: Long, warming, and spicy, with a mouth-cooling aftertaste.
