Loch Lomond Peated Single Grain Scotch Whisky
"I miss my 6% I hope this one does something for me."
A permanent expression from the versatile Loch Lomond distillery in the Highlands, relaunched and renamed Grainstorm in late 2024. This unconventional single grain is produced from 100% heavily peated malted barley, distilled through a continuous Coffey still and matured exclusively in American oak ex-bourbon casks. Loch Lomond is one of the few Scotch distilleries capable of producing this style, as single grain whisky is typically made from wheat or maize, and most malt distilleries do not operate Coffey stills. Bottled at 40%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Clove, vanilla and blackcurrant.
Palate: Sweet tangy peat, green apple, lime citrus and aniseed.
Finish: Crispy dry finish with distant peat smoke.
Overall rating: 4.0 / 5 from 4 reviews.

"Honestly I first doubted this Lochlomond tactic until I got a chance to lay my hands on a bottle of this fantastic Whisky. Wow I was shocked and at the same time impressed . Mostly the complexity that you get on the pallate , loved the medicinal and dark fruit notes ; loved the explosion and above all the way everthing stood out perfectly together not forgetting the main area which could potentially be of concern which is , ''Value for money'' otherwise great , great dram indeed."

"Delicious and refreshing especially with a block of ice. It reminded me of vanilla short bread, very elegant with a soft peat touch on the finish"

"This is proof that good whisky doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. It is a beautiful peated whisky with blackcurrant, medicinal and citrus fruit notes. Lingering hint of peat on the finish."
